New Year, New Noise - Furiosa 2020 New Year Opener (01.25.2020)

It was technically the 2nd Furiosa gig for the year, but the first for the prod with their trademark shoegaze, dreampop, obscure line up that featured a couple of bands that took years to include.

Overall, the event was a great kick off for the shoegaze prod’s year. The night started with the expertly crafted soundscape of Antechamber. Loops were in full effect and they showed how walls of sound are meticulously generated. Next up was The Ringmaster with his electronica-laced dreampop stylings. Definitely one to listen to. Sleepwalk Circus followed up with their own awesome performance of post-rock and shoegaze-infused alternative style. Next was the low-key dreampop set of bird. They just keep getting better and better every time I watch them. Unmute delivered a really tight post-rock, psychadelic rock set that featured their original drummer. And The Rave Tapes capped the night off with their hard-hitting shoegaze.

The crowd was a bit slim but featured friends supporting different bands. There was Miggy Chavez of Chiosci, Kai Honasan and Josh Villena of Autotelic to name a few. It was great seeing new faces and watch new acts performing on the Furiosa stage.

The year just started for the prod and with that kind of opener, I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the rest of the year.
