Events celebrating multiple things at once are always fun as long as the right people and the music are involved. On the eve before the EDSA Revolution, a small gig played out in pre-celebration of EDSA and a post-celebration of JP’s birthday. It had awesome music, free drinks, a lot of dancing, and so much fun!

The evening opened with a set of covers by Bad Omen. Though I prefer to hear originals, they set the tone for the event with their infectious covers of punk and new wave anthems that got the audience dancing. Next up were the ladies of The Shocking Details who delighted the crowd with their indie rock. The mid portion of the event was a surprise - stand up comedy. The three comedians - Alexio Tabafunda, Aldo Cuervo, and Andren Bernardo - took their styles of comedy and gave the evening a great sense of variety. Bands took the stage again for the last portion of the evening starting with Chord Organ Blues. They played mostly old songs from The Dropouts and blew me away. JP said that they haven’t practiced for the gig but I really didn’t see it that way. Beejay stayed on stage for the next band - Identikit - and graced the audience with their ever evolving sound. Last up was the hard-hitting Tao Banda whose umph closed the evening very fittingly.

The gig was a celebration of a lot of events but more importantly it was a lot of fun and a lot people left the venue feeling happy.
