"Everything Under Heaven" Album by Limbs

I don’t know where to start with this and I love it. I guess one of the most difficult things about listening to screamo and other adjacent genres is that it gets tiring. Sure, the energy you get from watching a performance live can get you through a whole set but it’s different when taking the time to absorb a recording. Sometimes it’s too much - it might be my aging ears - but this album is just right.

When you aren’t bombarded by inhumane screams and screeching guitars, you’re lulled into a gaze with droning reverb and shifting sounds. You even get to hear a rare singing Dwight on “Hope Belligerent”. The genre and tempo shifts are welcome throughout each track and gives a unique sense of pacing. From the soft opening track to the building crescendo in the title track, there is always something to keep you interested. The album also features some impactful guests such as Jem Gallardo of Pry on “Metropolis of Salt” and singing from rap duo switchbitch on Second Survivor.

This is an album of the year contender that can easily be subbed into to any rock, puck, or hardcore playlist and you should give it a try at least once. Increase the volume at your own risk.
