"Lalamunan" EP by switchbitch

Rap duo switchbitch released another EP while in lockdown - Lalamunan! Coming off their previous release, the group launch into a tirade and criticism of the government immediately in their first track - Fax Machine. It's also well researched with data available at the time including the body count during this pandemic and the trillions the government has borrowed so far with footnotes available in the lyrics. They don't let up the energy with the second track - Atta Girl / Ate Girl - which is my favorite track of the EP with playful lyricism and changing tempos while calling out prominent female figures as they describe what a girl does. Salem Witches continues with the government call outs but adds a Bicolano twist in some verses. Halika slows things down and brings out the more romantic side of duo. The last track - Nightmare - perfectly describes the mood of always being on the look out for shady government figures that want you dead. Overall, the EP is a gem and I've had it on repeat since it came out. The producers on every track did the lyrics justice and the EP captures every Filipino's nationalistic desires for a better future and better governance with angst, aggression, and whimsy.
