"Pasya" Album by Various Artists
The individuals over at Women’s Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR), Filipino Freethinkers (FF), the Philippine Safe Abortion Advocacy Network (PINSAN), Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF) and Abortion Conversations Projects (ACP) collaborated with six artists to produce Pasya - an album with 13 original songs to celebrate the strength of people standing up to challenges against their rights to bodily autonomy. Through meaningful music that is light, liberating, and enabling, they aim to change the stigmatized narrative on abortion and campaign for its decriminalization in the country.
The artists are able to weave the narratives of difficulties like having control over one's body, tackling societal norms, and the stigma over certain choices. Sprawling multiple genres from world, pop, hip-hop, folk, and spoken word, there's no shortage of tunes or vibes for any listener which each song showcasing each artist's strength. The album works strongly not just as an expression of will but also as a musical collection culminating in the song Regla where each artist is given their own space and pace to declare what they truly feel.
