"Two Songs Done Differently" EP by Lindenwood

Lindenwood’s short - by sweet - EP just dropped on Spotify! Though released all the way back in December 2019, it’s not exactly new but still a refreshing take on two hit songs by the band. Dogface (Reprise) slows the song down just a bit, making the words hit harder. Medicine Box (acoustic) takes my fave song from their Die With Me EP and makes it bonfire friendly.

I was able to have a quick chat with Jason about the songs and the near future.

JANLOR: Why these 2 songs and why only 2 songs?

JASON: After making Dogface 2.0, we thought it was weird to release an old song as a single. So, we just picked the easiest song to make a different version of and thought of releasing what we fondly called an “Extra EP” before the year ended.

JANLOR: How did you decide the style for playing them differently?

JASON: For Dogface, we wanted to keep it constant in our set list since it’s Lindenwood’s first original song but also thought it sounded a bit different from our current sound or the sound we’re going for. So, we made this. I’m not sure which version sounds better though.

On a personal note, I’ve always wanted to have a song with “(Reprise)” on it lol.

For Medicine Box, I remember always playing it on an acoustic guitar when it came out since it’s super easy to play. When JR and I recorded it eventually, almost everything was on the spot.

JANLOR: What can your fans expect from the band in the near future?

JASON: More reimagined songs or more new songs? We have a couple of new demos recorded at our own places but it’s really hard to move forward since we don’t get together to work on them. We’ll wait for everything to cool down, I guess.
