"Unsung Rebel" by Kagid

Kaloy Olavides and Diego Mapa just dropped a collab no one was expecting but everyone deserved. “Unsung Rebel” started out as a guitar riff demo recorded on a phone but is now a fully recorded song also featuring Ron Fransisco and Pat Sarabia. From Body Clock Records and Distro:

“Kagid” which is Visayan dialect for "mange", is a studio project created by Kaloy Olavides (Pastilan Dong!, Grows) and Diego Mapa (Pedicab, Eggboy, Tarsius) together with Ron Francisco (That Epic Reggae Set, Beat The Robot Recordings!), and Pat Sarabia (Oh Flamingo!, Apartel, Wilderness). The project began in 2018, when Kaloy sent Diego guitar demos recorded in his cellphone. Already in love with the riffs and tones of these mobile recordings, Mapa already went straight to assembling the music by supplying vocals and additional guitars. Both musicians also had a third member in mind, Olavides invited long time studio collaborator, Ron Francisco to play bass and drums. In 2019, Kaloy and Diego got busy with their respective bands and these demos just sat in hard drives. This year, and in isolation during the current pandemic, Olavides and Mapa reconnected. Relieving Ron recording two instruments, they invited Pat Sarabia instead to play drums. However, Sarabia to date is caught in lockdown while in vacation outside Manila. Fortunately, she has a drum kit with her and recorded her parts also in her phone. "Unsung Rebel" is an indie rock ballad which documents Olavides and Mapa's twin guitar work, Francisco's complimenting gliding bass, and with Sarabia respecting what a song needs. A debut of a rare alliance likely to become an underground classic. “Wake up, you know it. You’re in denial. Admit it now.”
