"Will You Catch Me?" EP by Cinéma Lumière

Cinéma Lumière have finally released their debut EP under Catshelf Records - Will You Catch Me? After years of playing in the gig scene, the band has come together to release their collection of indie pop songs. The EP opens with their first jangle pop single “Love” with lovely boy-girl harmonies that are better heard here than their live performances. Up next is the first slow song of the EP - “London Tear”. The lofi beats of the track really make the whole song stand out and make it sound more like a bedroom project. “Will You Catch Me?” is next and whose additional horns section really bring the song to life! It’s more grandiose as a recording compared to hearing it being played live. Last on the EP is “Dreamcatcher” with it’s angelic twee pop harmonies that end the EP on a high note. The EP brings indie pop back on the map and a great addition to any emotion-tugging playlist.

I was able to have a quick chat with band about their EP.

JANLOR: How has Xavier's migration affected the band's songwriting and recording process for the EP?

CINEMA LUMIERE: I guess it was all right because Xavier is very communicative with us. With the recording, he's able to send his parts to us right away because he has access to recording equipment in Canada, which is such a convenience.

J: Why release the EP at a time like this?

CL: I'm not going to disagree that the timing of the EP release is quite out of place, and I understand that the scene has more important priorities than to buy music right now. However, it's just something to put out there and I'm quite proud of my bandmates' work on this.

J: What's next for the band?

CL: We'll be arranging and recording a Christmas song that will be included in Shiny Happy Records' Christmas compilation album to be released on December, but we haven't decided if we will release this as a single. Then we'll start polishing several songs we already played in gigs, arrange new songs, and start recording them for our full length album.
