"hair die" by bedtime television

The first time I heard bedtime television was at Cassette Store Day 2019. Kurvine always knew how to curate a line-up that had a good representation of all the genres that make up Genjitsu Stargazing Society. The bedroom dream pop band from Cebu was a breathe of fresh air with a soulful sound that demanded attention. They released their cassingle that same day and sold out immediately.

One of the songs on it is “hair die”, just released as a single and with an accompanying dreamy music video, too.

In their own words:

When we wrote this song I was facing the aftermath of the worst year of my life. I started coping with it and distracting myself by developing a habit of taking normal healthy activities but indulging in them to the point where it was in extreme succession and it was all I was excited about but it was so unhealthy, but I let myself believe these were “good” for me because I was so afraid of doing anything else that was real or good that would lead me to face the anxiety of real life. That was what hair die was about- unhealthy coping mechanisms. Writing the song helped me a lot with pinning the problem, with that in mind, I hope this song helps people understand themselves better and to please, please, please get help if you are facing similar problems. –Isabella Orbiso

The simple but elegant music video was made by a small crew of 5 with 0 budget - except for a Korean dinner. It features vintage trinkets, dancing without catching anything on fire, and even their local bowling alley.
