"8#)$}{!" Gig Review

I don't know how to pronounce 8#)$}{! but I know what a good time is! Harkening back to the pre-pandmic days of Mow's as a battleground for new bands to get the practice in, this gig showed a lot of promise on the back of a lot of rust and/or mistakes.

(formerly Maryknoll) opened the evening with their usual energetic set. Fatigued followed up with a solid set and definitely a new one for me to listen to. Ivy Hill showed a lot of promise despite an apparent lack of practice delivering their EP in real life. WAX played a very chill set and one that I've always had in my head when I first heard his music during lockdown. The Buildings always know how to start a mosh. Goon Lagoon is another favorite of the night with an interesting mix of boy-girl vocals on top of noise rock music. Parlor Parlor made their return and played their typical controlled chaotic set even with an intoxicated Miguel on the mic. AHJU$$I ended the night on a high note - playing up to the crowd and even increasing the tempo mid-set.

I remembered Mow's as the training ground to a lot of the bands I watch/listen to now and even a training ground for myself. This event may not have drawn the crowd I was hoping but it establishes the venue as a melting pot of talent and the prod as a good source of music to look out for.
