"Fuzz Sounds Album Launch" Gig Review

Having formed during the pandemic, Spacedog Spacecat wasted no time writing and recording songs in the span of a year to culminate in the newly-released "Fuzz Sounds".

Cinema Lumiere opened the evening with one of their best sounding sets to date featuring old and new songs and even a new cover that set the tone for the evening. Indie rock mainstays Identikit followed up with a classic set featuring tried-and-true songs as well as their newly-released single. The Strangeness made a surprise return and played a lot of their hits as well as an internet cult favorite that reminded me how fun their sets always were and having Calix play guitar was also a treat. The kids of (formerly Maryknoll) also graced the stage with a couple of new songs and their signature dorky rowdy charm set the crowd up for more fuzz. A lot of giveaways were given away during the the evening including vouchers for tattoos and bags but the main prize was - of course - a fuzz pedal that made a lucky audience member go home happy. Last up were the band of the evening - Spacedog Spacecat. They played a reverse order of their album which threw me off especially since the first and last songs titles are a reverse of each other. Their set even had a cover of The Rentals which the band covered over the pandemic.

Overall, it was a fun evening full of music and friends seeing each other to celebrate the result of a year's - and maybe even more - worth of planning, hard work, gigs, and fuzz.
