"Can I Try Again?" Single by Andrea Obscura

Andrea Obscura is the second solo project of Andrea Ramos, a Metro Manila-based songwriter and producer. Previously releasing music under Lower Myth, an electronic-focused project, and as the synth player of indie rock band, Devices, this new endeavor sees Ramos returning to her roots: writing songs on her guitar. She officially introduces this chapter in her music career with the single, “Can I Try Again?

Written, arranged, and produced by Ramos, “Can I Try Again?” is a song that describes the loneliness and frustration of feeling lost, being left behind by everyone else who seems to know where they want to go. It was originally written as a slower ballad on an acoustic guitar, but eventually, Ramos found the song’s infectiousness to be perfect for a more upbeat, full band setup. Even with its more melancholic themes, “Can I Try Again?” is an indie rock song that aims to capture the catchy and anthemic sounds of 2000s pop rock. With this single, Ramos hopes to pay homage to her favorite childhood artists, such as Avril Lavigne and Michelle Branch, while also making her first real step in establishing her own sound.

“The writing process of this song was really interesting to me,” Ramos says. “It was one of those rare times where I caught the music at the right place, right time. The way the lyrics and melody came to me felt so easy and natural, which hardly ever happens. I realized that perhaps it’s because I was being so direct and honest in both my words and in my sound.”

The single is out on Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, and all other major streaming platforms.
