In the midst of the pandemic, depression had become a major concern. Many have felt the hardships of being thrown out of routines, losing their source of income, being sick, or worse, losing a loved one. For some, the burden is too great to bear. It is because of this that the eight-piece southern rock band Hey Moonshine wrote their song “Mercy”.

While being locked down, the band members had their share of difficulties and troubles. And so they found their inspiration for the song. Mercy is about dealing with depression, especially during these difficult periods in our lives. It talks about the times when we speak to our inner demons with references to talking to the devil and manifesting a gun while using a backdrop of alcohol but not in the context of lightheartedness. It’s a map to a feeling of helplessness drenched in southern blues riffs and harmonies.

Mercy is the 6th song Released by the band this year.  It is under Viva Records and available for streaming in all major digital music stores.
