Hannah + Gabi released another song as a companion to Winter - Thoughts They Disappear! This song takes a more dramatic and somber approach to the same problem of creative block. I’m a sucker for songs with changes in between and the melodic interplay of Mikey and Selena Davis’ singing make the last minutes of the song sound like a claim of acceptance with all the things that are happening.

In his own words:

"Thoughts They Disappear," the companion song to the single I released a couple of weeks ago ("Winter") is now out on all streaming platforms. This one features a good friend of mine and co-singer of Ang Bandang Shirley, Selena Davis, on back-up vocals! Selena has joined me onstage during Hannah + Gabi shows a lot of times in the past. She even appeared as part of the band in the not-so-fictional version of Hannah + Gabi in Marie Jamora's 2012 film, "Ang Nawawala (What Isn't There)." I've been wanting to release a recording with her ever since, and now finally it's here!

Like "Winter," "Thoughts They Disappear" was written at a time when I was in a creative rut. The song speaks about my fears of losing my "thoughts" and not being able to create and do what I do best. The second act of the song (yes it comes in two acts!) is probably my favorite and the most intensely solemn and spiritual piece of work I believe I have ever created. In that act, I abruptly stop all my fearful meanderings and embark on a "prayer," a repetition of these lines that I wrote -- "You are the earth. You are the day. We'll fall in love." It's my own little prayer and declaration of trust in God (for some of you, The Universe), that he will make everything fall into place, and everything will be alright. Once again, I never imagined then that this song will be so timely today in the age of Covid, and political chaos in our country and all over the world.
